Prepare For The Plunge...

Though Christmas is just upon us, we should keep our minds to the future.
La Jolla Cove Swim Club's Annual Polar Bear Plunge at La Jolla Shores is coming up swiftly and a great way to start the New Year off right. Y'all are awesome at swimming throughout the year, liquid sunshine, humongous waves, through the jetsam and flotsam, and with critters of all kinds...they don't even phase you. I found a great article on preparation that I wanted to pass along. I hope you find it informative. Even if we are comfortable in these elements, others are not, and we can pass it forward. Check it out:

Merry Christmas to all. I've been blessed to know you this year...here's to a heavenly 2011

  1. PS: Swim today - 3:00pm Lk La Jolla at flat as it gets...not a ripple was heard (not even a mouse). Temp 55-ish and clear viz to the bottom the whole way...a lovely smokey bluish-green tourmaline color. We could hear the clicks and sonar of dolphin but couldn't see them...And then the rain came. So glad I went.

  2. PPS: Saturday late swim was similar to yesterday but not as clear, not as cold, not as pretty, but the seaweed was bold. Attack of the killer seaweed btw #1 stick buoy and A, birds were using it as a take-off strip! Clearer by the stick buoys than B...I didn't care as this was a de-stressor swim, purely therapeutic.
