wow wow wow

Sunday, did I feel a sprinkle? Came over the hill to LJ on Soledad and could swear it was almost raining, dropped the kids at a friends, bolted to the club and down to the Cove, and our shining pod, smiling and waving! LFTC, DIana Darling, the Mighty C's, Leonard, CFTC and WKB (Wendy) dipped into initially chilly waters which turned out to be 66, oh we have become so soft this summer.... clear as glass on the inside, trooped out to the .25, wow, check it out, over here we were screeching practically. Onward towards the Marine Room, hey SHARK (7 gill I think) oh, over here, school of sargo, lots of white fish, which do have yellow fins also :) ... a spotty seal lollygagging about, then to the Marine Room, very distractible swim I have to say, with the current all the way... turned back after seeing a zillion guitar fish against the chop, like crawling on land home... then again, the mighty current did the switcheroo, and we were jamming again. Another shark on the way in, bat ray, frolicking sea lions blowing bubbles and being wayyy frisky and back into the shocking clarity on the inside. Remarkable day in the water with great company too!

Cold by any other name is just cold...

Today, things did dip back down and drizzle on our sweet mother's day swim parade a tiny bit... not to be undone, we did it! Ruth, Leonard, B & C out there sloggin' it out in the rain. We  went into ward speed, just to get our wetsuits on!  The water was much clearer today and it was smooth and sweet, though a bit nippier than we had hoped for -- yes, we are so very SPOILED here. Hit the 1/4,  A,  B and then zoomed into home base to get warm.  The board said 58 and I believe it... certainly quickened up my stroke!  Saw lots of lovely jellies, mostly looking like the fried egg sort... a seal poked his head up to say hi at the 1/4. Ruth REFUSED to go near the cliffs or Marine Room, mumbling something about a monster out there...

Is there a monster out there? Ruth sent an email report on a near nine foot sevengill, but a monster?  Be nice... even a sevengill has feelings... and apparently seven gills?

Here's a cool video (taken in 2009!) of the one that may still be around... he doesn't look like a monster...

Missed you that didn't make it... we had a joyous swim.  Hope to see you next week.

Happy swim daze -- still saw some rays...

Quite a few swimmers out today: Ralph, LFTC, Ruth, Diana, Marta and Janie's crew were all there and went our ahead... we had to wait for Diana-darling as she carefully nursed her too-much-of-a-good-evening-self to the pond for a swim. Gorgeous day -- 62-63's, a bit swelly and bumpy, but stunningly beautiful. Not as clear as the PERFECT yesterday, though we did get to see tons of tiny fish and the sting ray parking lot off the Marine Room.  We went 1/4, Marine Room, searched for rays, Bill swam with a new friendly seal there near the shores, then we hiked out to the A, then Ruth chimes in and says B! We all headed happily there and then in... SOWEET!  Love you merpeeps -- where else to have such fun and spend time with friends, nature and the absolutely fabulous sea!
